Lower Explosive limit or Lower Flammable Limit

Meters read a % of the LEL

  • Example: Methane’s LEL is 5%
  • If your meter reads 50% on the LEL for Methane that means 50% X 5% = 2.5% of the LEL of Methane or half of the LEL, over the 10% limited by the standard.
