Driving in Urban Areas

When driving through the city there are many signs and rules that may be confusing to those who are not familiar with them. There is also an abundance of pedestrians and directions to be aware of.

• Be sure to scan the roads for obstacles on the road. Double parked cars, cars coming out of obstacles and be sure to check the road signs. A lot of inner-city roads have one-way streets or strict rules that are confusing to those who are not used to them. Be aware of the street signs and rules of the road in each city you travel to.
• Keep calm, driving in urban areas is frustrating and very confusing, especially after a long or stressful day at work. But getting worked up over drivers’ behaviors could harm yourself or others on the road.
• Plan your route in advance before you hit the road. There are many routes and streets that may cause a detour, so it is important to know before hand.
