Forklift Pedals

Most IC forklifts will have 3 pedals by which the operator controls the acceleration and stopping of a forklift. The pedal to the left of the accelerator is the brake pedal. Unlike a car, forklifts only have brakes on one axle, the drive axle.(Front Axle)

To the left of the brake pedal is the “inching pedal”. The inching pedal has two purposes. The first allows you to disengage the engine from the transmission so that you accelerate the engine to increase hydraulic speed. If the pedal is pressed down even further it will actuate the brakes.
