Mechanical

A subset of the energy of motion is mechanical energy.

We define it as the energy of the components of a mechanical system which is stationary. For example a rotating shaft of a motor, or rotating disc of a grinder or a conveyer belt. There is also a less evident example of a mechanical energy – compressed spring. It is not moving but it has a potential to move and release its stored energy.
