Blue Signal Protection of Workers – CiMSA

Purpose: To establish guidelines for deployment of safe and effective rail operations and to establish a blue flag standard consistent with 49 CFR B – Blue Signal Protection of workers and is a subset of CiMSA’s lockout/tagout procedure record.

Scope: The scope of the blue signal regulations is to provide protection for railroad employees and /or any other personnel that would otherwise be engaged in the following activities:

• Inspection,testing, repair, and servicing of rolling equipment
• On, under, or between such equipment and subjects them to the danger of personal injury posed by any movement of such equipment.
