- Approximately 370 construction workers were killed in falls in 2002.
In 2007, Industry leaders stepped up their fall protection training requirements for the Gulf of Mexico. Chevron, for example, is now requiring at least one person in a crew exposed to fall hazards to be a graduate of this 16-hour Fall Protection Competent Person course to work on their locations.
This course is designed to qualify personnel as a Fall Protection Competent Person. This course is designed to inform students with OSHA 29 CFR 1926.500, 20 CFR 1910 Subpart D [Walking/Working Surfaces], as well as meeting the Chevron industry standard.
