Assess

When assessing the situation, you want to keep an eye out for potential dangers to the patient, yourself or bystanders:

• Check for safety before rushing to the harmed patient
• Makes sure the situation is safe for you, the patient and those who are nearby.
• If situation appears too dangerous too progress, wait for professional assistance to arrive.

Now Assess the person’s condition, keep these questions in your head when aiding the person:

• Is the victim suffocating or bleeding heavily? If so, act immediately and appropriately.
• Is the person conscious or breathing normally?
