Course Objectives: At the completion of the course delegates will have gained useful knowledge in the following:
- Fall hazard elimination and control methods
- Applicable fall protection and rescue regulations
- How to assess fall hazards to determine rescue methods
- Responsibilities of designated persons under ANSI Z359.2
- Detailed inspection and record keeping of rescue equipment components and systems
- Assessment of rescue systems and how to determine when a system is unsafe
- Development of written fall protection and rescue procedures; and
- Selection and use of non-certified anchorages.
- Discuss falling hazards specific to your situation(s)
- Explain the physics of fall arrest
- State the reason for harness inspection prior to each use
- Perform a harness inspection
- Determine the capacity of fall arrest equipment
- List environmental concerns
- Explain the proper connection to anchor points
- Don and properly fit a harness (each participant)
- Use the harness and make appropriate adjustments for correct fit
- Describe proper storage of a harnesses
- Demonstrate his/her ability to use the “First Man Up” pole
